Isotopes Explode Early, Overpower Express in 15-2 Rout at Dell Diamond

The offense came early and often for the Albuquerque Isotopes on Wednesday night as they powered past the Round Rock Express 15-2 at Dell Diamond. Albuquerque wasted little time setting the tone, launching two first inning home runs and never allowing Round Rock an opportunity to recover.

Chase Anderson made the start for the Express, but Albuquerque’s lineup immediately found its rhythm at the plate. Nolan Jones opened the scoring with a solo blast before Willie MacIver added a two run homer later in the inning to give the Isotopes a quick 3-0 advantage. MacIver continued his strong night in the third inning with another solo shot, extending the lead while keeping momentum firmly on Albuquerque’s side.

The Isotopes continued to apply pressure throughout the middle innings. Sean Bouchard connected on another home run in the fifth, driving in Elehuris Montero, while Jimmy Herron later crossed the plate after a Round Rock defensive miscue pushed the score to 7-0. Herron also added a solo homer in the seventh as Albuquerque’s power display continued through nearly every part of the lineup.

Round Rock struggled to generate offense for much of the night, but finally broke through in the bottom of the seventh inning. Sam Huff started the frame with a double before Jonathan Ornelas followed with a single. Jax Biggers then delivered an RBI hit to bring home Huff and prevent the shutout. Biggers remained one of the few bright spots offensively for the Express, finishing with two hits and two RBI. Sandro Fabian also recorded a multi-hit performance and scored one of Round Rock’s two runs.

Any hopes of limiting the damage disappeared in the ninth inning when Albuquerque erupted again, putting together seven runs behind a combination of timely hits, walks, and aggressive pressure on the bases. The inning pushed the game completely out of reach and highlighted the offensive consistency the Isotopes maintained from the opening inning to the final out.

While the final score reflected a difficult night for Round Rock, there were still small positives for the club. Blake Taylor provided the team’s lone scoreless outing on the mound, working one inning of relief while allowing just one hit and striking out one batter.

For Albuquerque, the victory showcased an explosive offensive performance fueled by home run power and constant traffic on the bases. For Round Rock, the focus now quickly shifts to regrouping ahead of the next matchup in the series as the Express look to respond after one of their toughest losses of the season.
